If my car was in an accident, should I still make the payment this month or wait for the insurance?

Sorry to hear about your accident, we hope you are well! We understand an accident comes with unexpected costs and headaches, sometimes quite literally, but a monthly loan payment is still necessary.  Here are a few things you can do to help you through this difficult time:

  1. Review your loan documents or contact us to see if you purchased GAP Insurance.  You will still need to make monthly payments while your claim is being processed, but GAP Insurance may cover your balance if your primary insurance claim does not cover your entire loan balance.
  2. Contact us in order to request a Payment Deferral.  There is a $50 non-refundable fee associated with every month that is deferred, and interest continues to accrue during the deferral period.  Most GAP Insurance coverages allow for deferrals during the contract period, but you'll want to review your coverage exclusions to be sure.
  3. Contact us to discuss a Modification. We may be able to lower your payment on a temporary basis.
